Focusing on school admissions in urban China, this book employs discourse analysis and case studies to reveal the evolving narratives and practices influenced by societal changes. It examines the dynamics among various stakeholders in the public lower secondary education system, highlighting power relationships and the impact of socio-economic and institutional factors. Additionally, it discusses ongoing projects aimed at reforming policies and practices to promote equity in public secondary education following the shifts post-2015.
