Georg Moritz Ebers was a prominent German Egyptologist and novelist, renowned for uncovering the Ebers Papyrus, one of the oldest medical texts. His academic journey included studying jurisprudence and Oriental languages, leading to professorships in Egyptian language and antiquities at Jena and Leipzig. Ebers undertook significant scientific expeditions to Egypt, and his early work, "Ägypten und die Bücher Moses," laid the groundwork for his later achievements, including the editing and translation of the celebrated medical papyrus he discovered in Thebes.
