The book explores the experiences of approximately one million Russians who have fled their homeland since the invasion of Ukraine. Driven by opposition to the war, guilt, and a desire for a democratic Russia, these exiles have formed a resistance against Putin's regime. This movement encompasses supporters of imprisoned opposition leader Alexi Navalny, dissident Orthodox priests, and journalists challenging Kremlin narratives. Many exiles are also actively supporting Ukraine's struggle against Russian forces, aiming to expedite both Russia's defeat and the end of Putin's rule.
