Domestic violence in urban areas: the case of the city of Ouagadougo

Focusing on the analysis of domestic violence in Ouagadougou, the research explores individual, relational, and societal factors contributing to the issue. It posits that specific actions are necessary for prevention, repression, and victim support. Utilizing qualitative methods alongside quantitative data, the study reveals that women experience violence influenced by a combination of individual, relational, and societal factors, while men’s experiences are shaped primarily by individual and relational aspects. Solutions for reducing domestic violence are also proposed.
