Set against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea, the story follows Quebrado, a young man caught between cultures as he serves on various pirate ships. Known as el quebradö, he is seen as both islander and outsider. His unique position becomes crucial when pirate captain Bernardino de Talavera relies on him as a translator, bridging the gap between his mother's Taíno Indian language and his father's Spanish, highlighting themes of identity, belonging, and the complexities of cultural exchange.
