Set in 1947, the story follows Billie Dixon, a distribution agent for a struggling Hollywood studio, as she travels through rural Arkansas selling B-grade Westerns. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she becomes entangled with Amberly Henshaw, the discontented wife of a preacher vehemently opposed to movies. What begins as a fleeting romance quickly escalates into a dangerous affair, leading to betrayal and murder when Amberly's husband discovers their secret.
