Set in 2000 at St. Andy's Prep, the story follows Jack Donnigan, a freshman eager to shed his nerdy image and embrace a cooler persona. His acceptance into The Crew, a rebellious punk clique led by the cunning Cannonball, initially excites him. However, Jack's desire for independence leads him to question Cannon's authority as he embarks on a secret romance with Sarah, a punk-feminist, experiments with drugs, and boldly performs at punk shows, challenging the group's dynamics and his own identity.
