Set against the backdrop of the Old West, the story follows Daniel Boone Trewick as he escapes a violent past in Missouri and embarks on a treacherous journey to Santa Fe. Along the way, he teams up with the seasoned mountain man Thomas "Pegleg" Smith for a daring horse-stealing expedition to California. Concurrently, Juan Medina, a young vaquero wrongfully imprisoned, is forced to join a posse hunting the thieves. As they navigate danger and loss, Boone and Juan devise a scheme to transform their stolen bounty into a hopeful future.
