The story follows Martin Aubrey, who, after stopping citywide violence, believes a greater threat still lurks. As poisoned children remain unresponsive, he investigates a sinister prison known as the Keep, where an Order selects inmates for death. Meanwhile, an Apprentice and her Mentor uncover a dark conspiracy within the Order. As violence escalates, Martin becomes the target of a skilled assassin, forcing him to ally with unexpected figures, including criminals. His quest for truth may lead to his own destruction as he delves deeper into the darkness.
