Socio-productive aspects of cassava cultivation

Focusing on the socioeconomic aspects of cassava production in Boa Esperança, this study involved field research with local farmers from May 2016 to March 2017. Interviews revealed that the average age of farmers is 44, with 40% having incomplete primary education. Their income primarily stems from agricultural sales. The predominant cassava varieties include Bem-te-vi, Amarelona, and Olho-de-boto, with seeds sourced locally through exchanges and donations from extension workers. The research highlights the agricultural practices and community dynamics surrounding cassava cultivation.
