Focusing on the relationship between a CEO's task knowledge and company performance, this thesis integrates fragmented literature on various types of task knowledge—company/industry-based, experience-based, and personality-based—within the framework of leader life cycle theory. It proposes hypotheses that suggest higher task knowledge positively influences performance throughout the CEO life cycle. The work aims to shift the methodology from demographic characteristics to psychological measures of executive cognition, highlighting the need for further empirical validation.
