Gussie Fink-Nottle - a shy man, obsessively devoted to the study and care of newts - has done the unthinkable and fallen in love. With Madeline Bassett, that soppiest of specimens, who thinks that stars are God's daisy chain, and that bunny-rabbits are gnomes attendant upon the fairy queen. Hopelessly incapable of expressing his feelings, Gussie enlists Jeeves to advise him how to woo Madeline.
