It explores the evolution from the 19th-century precolonial polity through colonization, the 1959-1961 revolution, independence in 1962, and the aftermath of the genocide with the Rwandan Patriotic Front's rise to power. By analyzing both political continuities and changes, the work aims to reshape readers' understanding of Rwanda's complex political history.
