Schwinn Black Phantom

Set against the backdrop of the 1949 polio epidemic, the story follows Warren Hearst, whose life is drastically altered as he faces the challenges of his illness. Confined to a blanket in the family car on the way to Omaha for treatment, he grapples with feelings of despair and the desire to escape his new reality. However, his outlook begins to shift when he encounters Whitey, an energetic and persistent boy from his new neighborhood, who becomes a pivotal figure in Warren's journey toward acceptance and friendship.
