Meer over het boek
Known for his farcical comedies featuring dockside and rural Essex characters, William Wymark Jacobs also ventured into horror, with "The Monkey's Paw" being his most notable work. Starting his career as a clerk in the civil service, he published his first short story in 1885, gradually gaining recognition. Despite being offered £500 for six stories, he turned it down, showcasing his confidence in his craft. By 1899, Jacobs achieved financial security, allowing him to leave his post office job and focus on writing full-time.
