Analyzing over seventy films and thirty television series, the author explores how popular media emphasizes the value of "young" gay male bodies while neglecting themes of health and aging. This narrative often positions gay men as alienated from future possibilities, reinforcing stereotypes of predation and the lack of mentorship among older gay men. Through a Burkean framework, the work investigates how the visibility of "positive" gay representation influences contemporary understandings of gay aging and the broader implications for queer identity and future.
