Set against the backdrop of 1872, the story follows notorious outlaw King Callahan, who adopts orphaned Lily after her father's death in a robbery. As they escape to Los Angeles in search of a fresh start, Callahan's criminal past complicates their lives, especially with the Southern Pacific Railroad's encroachment bringing corruption and social upheaval.
