At the center is Henry Berry Lowery, a leader of the Swamp Outlaws, who fiercely defends these marginalized groups against Klan brutality. With a vow to kill anyone who hunts them, Lowery's gang becomes notorious, making him the highest-bountied outlaw in U.S. history. The story unfolds through the eyes of a Yankee reporter from the New York Herald who embeds with the gang to uncover their truth.
