The consideration of e-sports in schools

The exploration of e-sports reveals its growing significance among Generation Z and its potential benefits for educational institutions. A qualitative study involving 16 expert interviews identifies two viable approaches for integrating e-sports into Austrian schools: as an elective subject or as a complement to existing curricula. However, challenges such as implementation logistics, recruitment of qualified staff, and gaining acceptance from school authorities and parents pose significant hurdles to its adoption as a formal part of education.
