While some worship her, others, including a Vatican priest and government operatives, seek to exploit her powers. The narrative is told through her cousin, Pablo, who, after being separated from Rosina, joins the Canadian Army in World War I, driven by the desire to reunite with her and protect her from those who wish to exploit her divine gift.
