Set in 1768, the story follows Peter York, a newly orphaned boy adopted by a strict Quaker family. Feeling stifled by his guardian's rigid beliefs, Peter dreams of freedom. His opportunity arises when he learns of two runaway indentured servants in his community. As he embarks on a quest to capture one for the reward, he faces unforeseen consequences and moral dilemmas that challenge his understanding of freedom and loyalty.
