Struggling with math, Hank Zipzer teams up with his academically gifted classmate, Heather Payne, to improve his grades. Simultaneously, he is cast as the King in the school's production of The King and I, with Heather playing Anna. However, his father sets a challenge: Hank must achieve a B on his upcoming math test to participate in the play. The story follows Hank's efforts to balance his academic responsibilities with his passion for theater as he races against time to succeed in both.
