Set in 1864 Virginia, against the backdrop of the Civil War, the story follows two Senegalese men, Miro and Osmanu, who are unexpectedly sold into slavery on a plantation. They find themselves surrounded by individuals of similar ethnic backgrounds, challenging their perceptions of home and belonging. This narrative explores themes of identity, resilience, and the harsh realities of enslavement, as the characters navigate their new lives in an environment far removed from their origins.
