Parachute Extraction of a Generic Store from a C-130: A CFD Proof of Concept

The thesis presents a detailed feasibility analysis of extracting a precision-guided munition from a C-130 aircraft using a parachute. It employs the USAF Beggar code, factoring in full physics effects and aerodynamic loading for accurate results. The study tests two ordnance body styles at different angles of attack and positions in the cargo bay. The parachute model is based on empirical data, showing successful extractions without aircraft contact, with extraction times of 1.7 seconds and 2.1 seconds for different parachute force applications, and a maximum roll of 13 degrees observed.
