The original publication of Professor Elliot's THE MESSAGE OF GENESIS was accompanied by controversy and misunderstanding. In making the book available to the reading public, the publisher is concerned that the author's opinions ma be judged on the basis of firsthand rather than secondhand report. This book has been called conservative by many of our reader advisers, but all have pointed out that it has liberal overtones and without exception each has recommended that, in the name of religious and academic freedom, it is kept in print.
