Alexa Hughes gets a fresh start when she moves to the small town of Kenton, Tennessee, to act as the local hospital's public relations director and fundraising manager. She knows the job will be challenging, but she also knows she's a perfect fit. She begins making friends all over the hospital, especially in the emergency room, where they are always in need of funds. John Tate is a fireman and paramedic, infamous for dating new nurses. A playboy is the last thing Alexa needs, and she has been warned to steer clear. However, when she literally runs into the tall, dark, and handsome bad boy, she wants to know more. Dating John means taking a big chance. It's likely that he'll hurt her like he's hurt so many other women, but their chemistry is undeniable. Alexa also worries about the inherent danger in John's line of work as he daily makes risky rescues and tackles deadly fires. Then again, falling in love is always dangerous, as Alexa opens her heart to a man who might break it.
