Bishop Thomas Ram was the first person of his name to come to County Wexford. Having accompanied the ill-fated Earl of Essex to Wexford in the closing years of the 16th century he was made Dean of Ferns and later Bishop of Ferns. He got huge grants of land in the county. His family persisted in the Gorey area of Co. Wexford for more that 200 years.
