Courage to Change, a Missions Memoir 12 Years in Post-Communist Slovakia

The book is a memoir of twelve years in post-communist Slovakia, from 1997 - 2009. It is the story of two women, who went to Slovakia at the ages of 55 and 65, at the invitation of a Slovak church for the purpose of reaching those who were addicted and impacted by addiction. They used their education and experience in music and teaching to work in the church and a state university for the first six years, whiling building contacts and trust with those working with addicts. The last six years of their ministry was spent in establishing support groups, counseling individuals, teaching in treatment hospitals, schools, and churches, conducting children's camps, writing and publishing, and training others in prevention and recovery ministries. They worked with Slovaks to found a nonprofit organization, Life without Addiction (English translation of name) that continues.
