Ella, a young DPhil student researching pagan traditions at Oxford, discovers a concealed cryptic message linking an obscure island to a Punch and Judy show and the dance of the crows. Upon further investigation Ella finds that visitors to the island are strictly vetted and in order to visit she must lie about her true intentions. Her tutor, Andrew, disheartened from years of fruitless endeavour, agrees to collude with her and their successful deception gains them access. But once on the island are they truly ready for what they will find?
