In 1878, Kansas Red, a mysterious gunman and bounty hunter, learns that a young hot-head named Billy is searching for him. After saving Billy from angry gamblers, both are wounded in a gunfight. Billy reveals that his father, Sam Cassidy, sent him to find Kansas and ask for help against the notorious outlaw Thorn Larson. Unfortunately, when they arrive at the Cassidy Ranch, they discover it has been attacked, leaving the men dead and three women, including Billy's mother, Carol, captured. Kansas, Billy, and Finnegan, a Black rancher with a pint-sized attack dog named Bonnie, form a makeshift posse to track Larson across rugged mountain terrain. During their pursuit, they encounter Leslie, a sharpshooter who escapes from the outlaws with the aid of Charlie, the gang’s Ute Indian guide. Sparks fly between Kansas and Leslie as they continue the chase. The posse also rescues a young federal marshal from hanging, who joins their ranks. Their pursuit culminates in a fierce gun battle with Larson's gang, uncovering hidden treasure and long-held family secrets. The story has also been adapted into a motion picture, featuring a talented cast.
