Theodor Fontane's work encompasses five volumes, originally published between 1859 and 1889, that explore various regions of Brandenburg. The first section, focusing on the Grafschaft Ruppin, was created between 1859 and 1861, with its first edition released in 1862 and later revised. The text adheres to the 1892 Wohlfeilen edition. The second part, Das Oderland, was written from 1860 to 1863, with its initial publication in 1863, also following the 1892 edition. The Havelland section was developed between 1863 and 1872, first printed in 1873, and is similarly based on the Wohlfeilen version. Spreeland, spanning from 1859 to 1881, was first published in 1882, while Funf Schlosser, written between 1880 and 1888, was released in 1889. This new edition, published in 2016 and edited by Karl-Maria Guth, is presented in a large format (210 x 297 mm) with a two-column layout. The text is grounded in the complete works of Fontane, edited by a team including Edgar Gro and others, spanning multiple volumes published by Nymphenburger Verlagshandlung from 1959 to 1975.
