Meer over het boek
Industrial Interiors. Iron and Wood encompasses a period that produced the raw, functional aesthetic that has become the foundation of modern design. The second industrial revolution created the need for a new type of furniture to meet the demands of a growing workforce. Chairs, tables, lamps and modular furniture were designed from new materials to be mass produced, stackable and adjustable to the needs of new industries that, in turn, manufactured the products that would define a changing society. These pieces, which inform a reclaimed style, are now popular with collectors and interior designers. Through the work of 25 architects, decorators, and designers, this volume pays tribute to the professionals who shaped the industrial aesthetic as the unsung heroes of modern design and showcases their creations in iron and wood. Carefully selected, this elegant volume is a source of inspiration on how to live with industrial design.
