Die Idee der Homosexualität musikalisieren

Meer over het boek

Guy Hocquenghem's essay on homosexual desire is considered a foundational text for what is now known as queer theory, as noted by Douglas Crimp in the introduction to a recent US edition. Hocquenghem, a French activist, theorist, journalist, and novelist, significantly influenced the radical gay movement in the 1970s and 1980s, impacting not only France but also the former Federal Republic of Germany. Despite a resurgence of interest in his work in France and the US, he remains largely overlooked in German-speaking regions. However, engaging with his writings is invaluable for understanding sexual orientation as fluid and dynamic rather than fixed, akin to music where a sound emerges only when it fully utilizes its range. In 2018, marking fifty years since the sexual revolution and the thirtieth anniversary of Hocquenghem's death, the authors of this volume aim to connect contemporary discussions on identity and racism with his ideas. Contributions include works by Hocquenghem (translated by Salih Alexander Wolter), Rüdiger Lautmann, Norbert Reck, and Heinz-Jürgen Voß, fostering a dialogue that bridges past and present queer thought.
