Promoting the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, this collection consists of 85 articles, with 77 originally published in prominent journals between 1787 and 1788. These essays, authored by key figures such as Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, articulate the principles behind the Constitution and address concerns of governance. The compilation was later published as "The Federalist; or, The New Constitution" in two volumes in 1788, with the term "The Federalist Papers" emerging only in the twentieth century.
