Kilmeny of the Orchard

Set on Prince Edward Island, the story follows Eric Marshall, a young teacher who becomes enchanted by Kilmeny, a mute girl with exceptional hearing. Their bond deepens as Eric frequently visits her, leading him to fall in love. However, when he proposes, Kilmeny turns him down despite her own feelings for him, creating a poignant tension between love and unspoken challenges.
